Sonic CD

Sonic CD, the original sequel to Sonic 1! This was a true game above games! A true classic! It's one of my favorite games in the series, and here is why...

STORY - 10/10: This was the best story to date. I, after my first defeat on South Island, planned to use the Time Stones to use to my advantage. Little Planet, a planet which appears breifly each year over Never Lake, happened to drift by one day. Seizing the oppurtunity, I chained it down to a mountain baring my handesome likeness and stationed my latest fortress on the planet! When Sonic arrived, by 'coincidence' a young girl named Amy showed up as well! I'd later learn she used cards to find out where to go, as she was skilled in reading them! But I showed Sonic not to mess with me! I had my latest greatest invention, Metal Sonic, kidnap her! Sonic eventually fought through the past, present, and future, defeated Metal Sonic, then me, and rescued Amy! This plan would've been perfect had I succeeded...

GAMEPLAY - 8/10: Absolutely stunning. The abilities to go into different time periods was a very nice touch, as what you did in the past(or didn't do for that matter) would make a Bad or Good Future! The Special Stages were also very original. And you could save your game, although you only had one save slot.

SOUND - 10/10: The soundtrack of this game- the ORIGINAL Japanese one, mind you, not the American version SoA made- was absolutely incredible. "You Can Do Anything" and "Cosmic Eternity" were two of the best songs in the series. And the level music was really good too! By far, this game had the best music in the series.

GRAPHICS - 9/10: I was very impressed by this. For a game in the early 90's, Sonic CD really pushed itself to its graphical limits. The gameplay sprites were sharp and well done, but the most notable graphical feature were the anime cinema scenes. Those were absolutely amazing! Another note is that the animators of these scenes were the same people who'd animate the Sonic OVA.

REPLAY VALUE - 8/10: To see it all, you'll have to play this game more than once. It's worth doing just to see the various futures and differing events depending on what's done in the game. It's addictive, and very fun.

AMOUNT OF EGGMAN - 9/10: Man, it was all me in this game. The story constantly focused on my evil schemes, and what's more- I debuted in my anime form for the first time! I looked so awesome in those cinemas...

OVERALL - 9.5/10: This game is absolutely awesome. The one or two small flaws it has are easily overlooked. I have NO complaints. If you don't have it, GET IT! It's the best game in the series.

CHANGES FROM JAPAN TO AMERICA: First off, the awesome Japanese soundtrack was TOTALLY REMOVED for the American release. We got stuck with a bunch of subpar, not nearly as good songs that just lacked quality. Secondly, Amy was called...ugh, "Princess Sally" in the US manuals. This was a horrible change... Oh, and... as if I need to mention it, my name got changed from Eggman to "Robotnik" yet again.

The review's finished! Get outta my face!
