Eggman may be the villain, but that
doesn't stop him from being playable throughout the Sonic the Hedgehog
series! Here are all Eggman's playable roles!
Sonic Drift
Eggman's very first playable
appearance. In this wild and crazy racer, the good Doctor speeds
through the zones of Sonic 1, each containing three tracks, against his
rivals, Sonic, Amy, and Tails! The Doctor's own home turf Scrap Brain
Zone makes an appearance as well!
Abilities
Eggman uses the Egg Typhoon to
race, and actually has the best speed in the entire game, even more
than Sonic himself! ...But that comes at the price of poor
acceleration. Eggman's the best character for skilled players, since as
long as you don't hit anything to slow you down, your max speed will
carry you to the finish! Additionally, for the small price of two
rings, Eggman can toss a mine to deter the other racers' progress.
Eggman's Ending
Eggman even gets his own ending if you finish the game as him! He
laughs, taunting his lifelong rival in victory, and then runs off as
Sonic gives chase and the credits roll. This is another example of
Eggman running faster than Sonic on foot.
Sonic Drift 2
Eggman's back, and this time he
brought Metal Sonic along for the ride! A few other heroes showed up as
well, but who cares about them? Join Eggman and six unimportant losers
as they race to the finish, all the way to the final course and
Eggman's home track, the Death Egg!
Abilities
Once again, Eggman breaks out
the Egg Typhoon, but his stats have been altered slightly due to there
being more characters. This time, Eggman has the best handling in the
game, but his poor acceleration from the first Sonic Drift returns.
Thankfully, so do his mines, which he can fire off at the cost of two
rings like last time.
Eggman Victory
A bit less extravagant than his Sonic Drift ending, Eggman(As
well as any other character who wins) will stand on the first place
podium with a trophy. Congrats, Doc!
Sonic R
Eggman enters another
racing competition, and this time Eggman has a posse- He's brought
along Metal Sonic, Tails Doll, Metal Knuckles, and Egg Robo to take on
Sonic and his band of fuzzball friends. There's only five courses this
time, so the game doesn't provide quite as many locales as the Drift
games.
Abilities
First, the base stats- Eggman's using his normal Eggmobile this time around, and it's got great acceleration and handling, but low top speed. In this way, it's something of a reverse on his Sonic Drift stats. Eggman's
a great character for shortcuts, as his Eggmobile can float right over
water with relative ease. And keeping in tune with his destructive
tendancies, for 10 rings, the Doctor can fire a homing missile at the
opponent in front of him.
Eggman Ending
If you beat the game as Eggman, you get this neat render of Eggman thanking you for playing after the credits. Yay!
Sonic the Fighters - Cheats Only
Thanks to Sonic Gems Collection and Action Replay Codes, Eggman is playable in Sonic the Fighters. See this page for details.
Abilities
Eggman is TOUGH in this game. He has a
mean normal attack that can wipe out opponents in three or four
consecutive hits. Like Bean, he can also fire bombs as well.
Virtua Striker 3
Eggman is playable on the F.C. Sonic team.
His default position is goalie, but he can be switched out to whatever
the player likes.
Sonic Adventure 2
Without question, this is the best playable Robotnik role in history. It's so great and diverse, that I'm gonna break format and explain each unique mode in detail.
Main Mode
The main adventure! Eggman is playable in five stages of the Dark
story- Iron Gate, Sand Ocean, Lost Colony, Weapons Bed, and Cosmic
Wall. He fights three bosses- Two fights against Tails and one against
a rennegade Egg Golem. And as if that's not enough, he has a final curtain call in the Last story, as part of the Cannon's Core stage. And if that's
not enough, each of his stages has five missions to complete, providing
tons of Eggman replay value! So, just what can Eggman do?
Abilities
Eggman stomps around in his mech, the Egg Walker. It can fire homing
lasers, volkan cannon blasts, and even pack a close-range whallop with
a spring-loaded boxing glove. As Eggman collects upgrades, he'll also
be able to hover over short distances, as well as boost his defense
with Protection Armor.
So, what's Eggman's signifficance to the plot?
The entire Dark Story centers on Eggman's plot for world
conquest! Sure, Shadow and Rouge have their own motives, but nearly
every action taken in the Dark story is the result of Eggman calling
the shots. From the beginning when he frees Shadow until the end when
he activates the Eclipse Cannon, Eggman totally steals the show in this
fest of pure awesomeness.
2P VS. Mode
Eggman's ready to rumble in Battle Mode! Fight against Tails, Chao, or Dark Chao in shooting matches, and show 'em who's boss!
Abilities
Eggman's powers in Battle
mode are greatly expanded from the main mode, as with the collection of
rings, he can progressively use stronger attacks, like a blast of laser
fire, homing missiles, and the deadly Power Laser. Aside from these
added abilities, all of Eggman's normal powers are intact.
Alternatively, you can use Eggman's alternate battle costume, which
makes him unable to lock onto enemies, but allows him to fire a Power
Laser with every 10 rings he collects.
Kart Racing
Eggman's playable roots are in racing, afterall. Here, the Doc's
playable with two karts, and both have very high speed, rivaling even
Sonic. So race ahead, and say "Farewell!" to your miserable competition.
Chao Garden
A look at Eggman's sensetive side- Eggman, like the rest of the
characters, can't help but love those sickeningly cute Chao, and proves
to be quite the capable caregiver.
Other Stuff - Action Replay Only
If you want Eggman in other levels, you'll need to resort to Action Replay Codes. In addition to using Eggman's walker in other levels, you can use the mechless Chao Garden Eggman in normal stages as well.
Sonic Battle - Cheats Only
Like Sonic the Fighters, Eggman isn't playable under normal circumstances. But with Action Replay, he is!
Abilities
Eggman is unstoppable in
this game- It's no wonder they didn't make him playable, the guy's
nearly invincible. On the ground, he fires homing missiles, and in the
air he can drop an endless supply of bombs. Speaking of being in the
air, Eggman can fly, remaining in the air for as long as he pleases.
Eggman's even stronger than Emerl with max stats, and is by far the
most powerful character in the game.
Sonic Panel Puzzle
Don't let Sonic's name in the title fool you- This mobile phone game stars Eggman. That's right, what we have here is an authentic Eggman game- And while this is a puzzle game, you actually play
as Eggman, unlike Mean Bean Machine. The goal is simple- Pick a picture
puzzle, and use Eggman in his Sonic Battle red Eggmobile to flip panels
around until they're finished. A fun and addicting puzzler, and starring
Eggman to boot. This is definetely a reason to get the Sonic mobile
games! And afterall, it makes sense that a puzzle game- a test of
intelligence- would star Eggman.
Sonic Backgammon
Play as Sonic
or Eggman in this classic game! There's no unique twist, here- Just
good old fashioned backgammon. It's still worth a download though!
Sonic Advance 3
Eggman is only playable in the
final boss battle- And only by the second player if you're playing 2P
mode. It's still a cool, and unexpected, playable appearance for the
Doctor!
Abilities
As Eggman, your job is to charge and create an opportunity for Super
Sonic to perform an attack, rather than attack directly. I guess it was
done this way to focus on the teamwork aspect.
Sonic Napoleon
No, not the short French guy- The card game! And Eggman's one of the players. That's about it. Yep.
Sonic Speed DX
Another mobile phone card game, and Eggman's playable!
Sonic Riders
Another racing game featuring Eggman, and this time sporting gentleman's racing gear- What a classy guy, that Eggman!
Abilities
Eggman is a power type racer-
This means he's capable of going through almost any obstacle on the
track without being slowed down, and the best part is, he PUNCHES them
out of the way. Cars, robots, TRAINS, nothing
stands up to Eggman's mighty fists. Eggman's unique ring powerup
attacks include a mechanical boxing glove, a fart attack(So much for
the "classy gentleman" comment), and a loud yell through a megaphone.
All available vehicles for Eggman are bike types, with the exception of
Omnipotence, an Eggmobile-like craft.
Mario and Sonic at the Olympic Games
Coming soon, the epic videogame crossover uniting Mario and Sonic- But what we really care about is Eggman. And he's playable! We'll give you more information when we get it.
Sonic Riders: Zero Gravity(?)
We technically know nothing about this game, but since Eggman was playable in the first, we'll assume he will be here.
