War of Chaos: Story of Fiona the Hedgehog
By: Shadow the Hedgehog 2099
***Author’s Comments*** A couple quick things to note: the “War of Chaos” fan fiction is to be read under the preconceived notion that all the “Story” chapters occur at roughly the same time and come to the final chapter at the same time. Any time/space discrepancies are unintentional and unplanned, if one of those just so happens to occur between the different story paths, so be it—a wizard did it.
“I’m sorry, Kindar,” Fiona the brown, plump hedgehog explained over the phone as she stirred some sugar into her morning coffee, “I’m just not much of a tennis player, y’know?”
“What are you talking about?” Kindar demanded from the other end, “You have the best backhand of anyone I’ve played with! We could dominate at the indoor court this afternoon!”
“To be able to play tennis in public you need a good backhand and a good backside, only one of which do I have,” Fiona sneered, “The last time I went down there, an entire section of the audience began to chant ‘off the court, whale’! I don’t think so,”
“Aww! C’mon, please?” Kindar begged, “If you don’t, I’ll have to play in the singles bout and that’s really no fun!”
“Sorry, Kindar,” Fiona sighed, “I have a cake in the oven, so I need to go. Talk to you later,” she chimed as she hung up the phone. She sat down at her table and sipped her drink as she reflected upon the recent events against the Shadow Series units created by Professor Gerald Robotnik fifty years before her birth and about what Shadow may have heard or seen on the ARK. She worried about Shadow more than she worried about anyone on the planet, as he was the only one to be nothing but supportive of her. She polished off her drink and sat on her couch and paused a while.
She was concerned for Shadow as he was always getting caught up in battles and wars that somehow linked back to his mysterious origin aboard the wrecked space colony that he drove into the sun. She also occupied her thoughts by the sudden return of Maria Robotnik who had supposedly died shortly after the Shadow Series was completed—but somehow still walked among them that day. Fiona rested her eyes and breathed softly only to jump awake suddenly. She thought she had only been down for a moment, but checking the clock it was already early afternoon. “Whew~ I must’ve dozed off!” she giggled as she got up. She stretched and then turned on the TV and saw footage from early in the morning of her own fiancée, Shadow the Hedgehog, battling a large water monster. She gasped and watched the footage of her husband-to-be battling the bubbly beast and beating it too. She smiled when she saw Shadow pose for the camera and took off like a shot.
Fiona then became fascinated and sat to watch the news cast and a few moments later an archeologist came onto the news to discuss the water creature. The doctor introduced himself, “I am Dr. Lihp. I believe I know what our water monster is! I believe I have seen carvings in ancient ruins’ walls and pillars depicting this very beast we’ve seen this day! The translation is sketchy but its name comes out to the English word ‘Chaos’. There’s no doubt in my mind that such a creature with hydrokinetic powers should very well be that same ancient monstrosity that destroyed the world over 2000 years ago! My research has shown that the beast’s molecular structure is highly unstable and volatile when near great sources of energy, such as the Chaos Emeralds!”
“The Chaos Emeralds?” Fiona gasped, “I forgot that Shadow brought them back with him after he destroyed the ARK! We’ll need to find those gems before it does!” She declared. She went to her lunch table and saw that day’s paper lying right on the table, open to an ad in the back. It read ‘Casinopolis Grand Opening! Massive interactive pinball extravaganza! Grand Prize: One of the rare, elusive Chaos Emeralds!’ She beamed as she turned off the TV, “Pay dirt! Now~ for lunch!” She was about to grab lunch when she suddenly heard a knock at her door. She went to the door of her overly-huge abode and opened the door and saw Shadow standing there before her. She giggled and hugged him before saying, “Hey! How have you been, honey?”
“I’ve been better! You won’t even believe what’s going on!” Shadow sighed as he began to explain the deal about the Chaos creature.
“I already know!” Fiona interrupted, “I saw it on the news and some archeologist guy said something to the same effect,”
“Okay, that saves me some time, but do we have any leads?” Shadow worriedly questioned.
Fiona told her beloved, “I did find one. The new casino down south of here is holding a pinball championship and the prize is the grey emerald!”
“All right! Let’s get that third emerald then!” Shadow exclaimed.
“My thoughts exactly!” Fiona replied. The two hedgehogs then set off to “Casinopolis” to try and win the next Chaos Emerald. Once there, they were rushed inside by some of the workers who began to explain how the pinball tables would work.
“This is sort of a promotional thing, you see,” One of the young men explained, “Shadow curls up into a ball and Fiona controls the flippers on the boards. You try to get as many as possible—if you break 400 you win the grand prize, ok?”
“You do realize that if we go through with this, every thing I’ve ever done wrong in the timeframe in which Fiona and I have been together (which has been a really long time) will come back to haunt me through those flippers, right?” Shadow asked, feeling a thin layer of sweat bead up on his head.
The workers laughed but Fiona chimed, “Oh, Shadow! You know I’d never do anything bad like that to you, don’t you?”
“I know you better than that!” Shadow gasped, but he soon found himself in the ball hold, “I knew I shouldn’t have done this. I’m going to be some kind of sore when this is done,” But it was too late as Shadow was launched at breakneck speeds over the arc and the game ensued. Needless to say Shadow’s theory ended up being pretty much correct as Fiona whapped him around for some fifteen minutes and more than doubled the amount needed to open the grand prize vault. Shadow had to limp out of the Casino, and Fiona proudly held the grey emerald in her hand, victoriously.
“We got the emerald!” Fiona happily sang, “See? I told you it wouldn’t be that bad!”
“This is just karma for when I laughed at Eggman,” Shadow grumbled, “No one truly knows pain until they’ve been a pinball under their fiancée’s control,” Just as suddenly as silence set in on the peaceful road they were dive-bombed by Eggman himself. “Hey!” Shadow exclaimed leaping out of the hovercraft’s way. However, the same mechanical hand from before nabbed the grey emerald from Fiona’s once-victorious clutches and he flew off in the sky, leaving a cloud of smoke around Fiona and Shadow, who were both blinded and coughing.
“Just our luck!” Fiona huffed, “Now he has two emeralds?!”
“Yeah, he does,” Shadow sighed, “And we only have one. We gotta even up the score,” He and Fiona began frantically trying to come up with a plan when out of no where, Knuckles the Echidna walked right up to them, holding the red Chaos Emerald, “Knuckles!” Shadow gasped.
“Hey, Shadow,” Knuckles smirked, handing the Chaos Emerald over to Shadow, “I just so happened to come across this beauty over in the Icecap on my Floating Island. I almost have all the Master Emerald pieces but I’m still missing a few. I figured you’d know what to do with this better than I would,”
“Thanks, Knuckles! We don’t have time to delay! C’mon, Fiona!” Shadow exclaimed, taking her hand and running in the general direction of Eggman’s flight path, “See you later, Knuckles, thanks again!”
“No problem! Just keep your head on your shoulders!” Knuckles laughed as he stepped into Casinopolis.
“Where do you think Eggman went?” Fiona asked.
“From the looks of it, I’m pretty sure he flew to the Mystic Ruins again. I wonder what he has planned,” Shadow thought out loud. Shadow lifted Fiona into his arms and took off as quickly as he could, speeding on through until they arrived at the Mystic Ruins, and there they saw Eggman drift his hovercraft down into a small walled-in gully. “There! We can get him while he’s parked down there!” Shadow declared, setting down Fiona and confidently leaping into the gully.
“Wait!” Fiona declared, “It’s probably a—,” But too late. Eggman laughed as a weird snare nabbed Shadow by his left leg and dangled him upside-down and made him drop his two remaining Chaos Emeralds, “… a trap,” Fiona sighed, climbing carefully down into the gully as well.
“Very perceptive but a tad bit late!” Eggman laughed picking up the two other emeralds and tossing them into a nearby lake.
“You won’t keep them from us like that!” Fiona declared.
“Oh! The lake isn’t as calm as it seems! Chaos~” Eggman called out.
“Oh no,” Shadow groaned, still unable to free himself from the snare.
“Chaos?! Again?!” Fiona gasped. As she said that, the liquid beast rose from the water, now with two long arms with skeletal structures around its two respective emeralds and it then sucked in the others as well for a total of four. This time, it grew a dolphin-like tail and its hands became more pincer-like.
“Ooo! Yes! I like the new style, Chaos!” Eggman laughed with joy, “Now, kill that fat girl and her annoying husband-to-be! I have other things to attend to!” Eggman laughed as his hovercraft drifted up into the air, all the while with him laughing in it. Fiona grunted as Chaos dove deeper into the lake and the water began swallowing the entire gully. Then Fiona noticed some large, lily pad leaves floating up to the surface which were large enough even for her to stand on. She readied herself as the water finally evened out and she scrolled her eyes over her new surroundings, preparing for the worst.
She then saw one of the lily pads get ripped in half and Chaos Four came up to the surface, “There you are!” Fiona declared.
“Fiona! Its weak point is that brain thing in its head!” Shadow declared, still trying to snap the rope that held him up. Fiona nodded and leaped onto another lily pad not too far from Chaos Four and she formed her flame sword from her fire rune and stabbed it into its head, causing steam to rise and Chaos to retreat into the lake again. Chaos then shot up right underneath her and tore the leaf she stood on into shreds and dropped her into the water below and vanished just as quickly, but the water only went up to her waist.
“It’s not that deep!” Fiona breathed a sigh of relief, but was a little irked about getting her dress soaked.
“Behind you!” Shadow shouted out. Right as Fiona turned around Chaos Four shot a shockwave through the water, which hurled the plump hedgehog through the air and splashing down into the water below. “Fiona!” Shadow screamed angrily. The fat girl was not so easily vanquished as she got up from the water, soaking wet, and coughing but very much alive as she noticed Chaos’ next movement and she boiled the water near him, forcing him to move away from her. Fiona then climbed out onto a nearby lily pad to catch her breath but Chaos popped up almost as quickly but as he attempted to strike Fiona, the girl got the first move and slashed it through its head, dropping Chaos back into the lake and on the retreat.
“You’re not going anywhere!” Fiona shouted, leaping into the air and stabbing a blue-hot flame down onto the water, sending steam everywhere. The next thing they saw, the lake receded to normal and Chaos made a quick get-a-way through a waterfall overlooking it. Fiona then turned her attention to Shadow and cut the rope by shooting a small fireball at it. However, this did drop Shadow on his head, but he was fine.
“Now they have four chaos emeralds,” Shadow sighed, rubbing his head.
“C’mon! We gotta go after them!” Fiona declared.
“How?” Shadow asked, as he was beginning to lose hope.
“C’mon! My daddy owns a helicopter!” Fiona declared, helping Shadow back to his feet.
“You’re father owns a helicopter?! Whoa!” Shadow gasped.
“What can I say? I’m a spoiled little brat,” Fiona shrugged, “Let’s hurry, though!” So the two hedgehogs moved quickly to a small air hanger near the Mystic Ruins where Fiona’s father kept his air vehicles stored and when Fiona explained who she was and what they were doing there, the guards quickly let them through. Fiona hopped in the cockpit and Shadow sat in the seat next to her as he looked over the buttons and gauges and all sorts of things.
“Can you even fly this thing?” Shadow worried.
“Don’t you worry! I got it all under control!” Fiona grinned. Shadow gripped tightly to his chair praying as Fiona took off into the skies and in no time at all, they saw Eggman’s new flying fortress—the Egg Carrier.
“That’s Eggman’s emblem! No doubt about it!” Shadow declared, still nervously glancing down below them periodically.
“Darn it! I knew I should’ve borrowed daddy’s Black Hawk helicopter! This one doesn’t even have guns!” Fiona huffed.
“You’re old man owns a Black Hawk?! Is that even legal?” Shadow gasped. He gasped again, however, when he saw the Egg Carrier had done a 180 and now the front of it had opened up and shot out a powerful beam of energy that blew off the roof and propeller of the copter and it dropped like a stone. Everything went blank.
Fiona slowly opened her soft blue eyes and gazed up towards the partly cloud sky and blinked a few times before it dawned on her what happened. She looked around and saw Knuckles the Echidna standing over her. “Oh! Knuckles!” Fiona exclaimed, pushing herself back to her feet wearily, “What happened?”
“I was about to as you the same question! Are you okay?” Knuckles asked with a shrug.
“I’m… I’m okay, I think,” Fiona stopped to recount what had just happened, “Shadow and I were after Eggman and this big laser thing… and the helicopter went down somewhere… Where’s Shadow?” she asked suddenly.
“Don’t know that one,” Knuckles replied, “You were the only one who fell here,”
“Darn it,” Fiona grunted, “I guess Shadow was sent in another direction then. Where are we?” she stopped and finally surveyed her environment. She was in the middle of a thick, lush jungle, with some strange rock formations around them.
Knuckles looked around, “I’m only here because I sensed a piece of the Master Emerald in the area. Finding you was sheer luck. Well… since you’re in the area anyhow, let’s go find the Master Emerald shards and then we’ll look for Shadow,”
“I… Uhh…” Fiona wondered, “I guess that makes sense. Maybe there’s a Chaos Emerald here too?”
“Maybe,” Knuckles shrugged, “I saw some old Echidna ruins over beyond that clearing. Let’s investigate them first,” Fiona nodded to the red echidna and they set off towards where Knuckles was pointing to. When they got there, they saw a large, beautiful temple sitting in the middle of it, but it had no obvious entrance. They shrugged to one another before climbing up a large staircase built into the side of the temple and walked around it to the back. Once there they found what looked like a type of trapdoor and they both went down it and into the rustic structure.
When they got to the bottom of the ladder that was built into the wall, they found themselves in an ancient Echidna armory. The two carefully looked around and up on a pedestal in the middle of the room sat a chunk of Knuckles’ Master Emerald. “Yes!” he exclaimed victoriously as he took it up in his hand. Just as he took it, a bright light enveloped the room and the two explorers found themselves in a black void. They looked at one another, then at their bleak surroundings and then saw an echidna girl walk from the shadows. She had a pink-tan type color with ancient marking across her spines and an old fashion of clothing.
“Who are you?” Fiona gasped.
“My name is Tikal, and I am one of the ancient echidnas who lived during the reign of our empire, well over 2000 years ago,” she explained, “And I have much to tell you and very little time to tell it all in, so please listen!” Fiona and Knuckles nodded to her, so she continued, “2000 years ago, the echidna people ruled most of this continent. When that wasn’t enough, they moved on to the conquest of an island just off the continent’s coast. When they got there, they found the empire in terrible economic condition, so they temporarily bunkered down and established a large, bustling town on that island.
“And I am the daughter of the chief of that town on the island. One day, when I was very young, I went off to the outskirts of town in order to play, and I found a most amazing treasure! I found the Master and Chaos Emeralds! They were so mysteriously beautiful that I was afraid to disturb their rightful places, but it was there that I met the Chao of the island. They were so cute I just wanted to play all day with them. With them was another creature—made entirely of water and having command over the water around it—was the creature we now know as Chaos,”
“Wait!” Knuckles exclaimed, “You met Chaos over 2000 years ago?”
“Yes,” Tikal affirmed him, “I did. Like the water itself, Chaos is ageless and, unless destroyed, will live forever. Back then he was a gentle, benign creature who protected the Chao from those who would hurt them. He was scared of me at first, but he became one of my best friends. One of my only friends, actually, as I was the only teenager in the entire village and I was afraid the little children might accidentally hurt the Chao, so I kept the place my own little secret hiding spot when I needed to think,
“But one day, a few of the villagers got curious as to where I went all day when I wasn’t at home or school, so they followed me to the Master Emerald’s shrine. They could feel the power pouring from the Chaos Emeralds, so they went to tell my father. They were sure that the emerald’s power would make the Echidna Empire invincible and bring us out of the recession our economy was in. That night, my father got a squad of men to go to the shrine and take the emeralds for their own gain. I tried to stop them, but their lust for money and power caused them to treat me like an enemy and nearly trampled me… But when they got to the Master Emerald, Chaos was there. He saw the pain they caused the little Chao creatures. He was filled with pain and sorrow and anger. So he absorbed the Chaos Emeralds and used that hatred to ascend unto a terrible monster: Perfect Chaos!
“Then, he used terribly floods and destructive attacks to reduce the planet to a world of water. We were lucky we built our temples to be water-proof for just such a flood, so the last remaining echidnas came together and we used what power we had left to seal Chaos into the Master Emerald so that he wouldn’t harm anymore people. The price was a high one—it cost all the remaining echidnas save for a few—their very lives,” Tikal sighed sorrowfully.
“And Eggman let Chaos loose out of the Master Emerald! That was what that slippery beast was that attacked me just before my island fell!” Knuckles exclaimed in fury, “We have got to stop Eggman!”
“Right!” Fiona agreed.
“Here, take this with you,” Tikal said as she held out the purple Chaos Emerald to Fiona, “If you keep this safe then Chaos won’t be able to unleash his full power and ravage the world again! Good luck you two!” Tikal then vanished back to the darkness from whence she came, and the two found themselves back in the armory. With haste, the two escaped the temple and hotfooted it back towards Fiona’s father’s hanger.
“Let’s go!’ Fiona exclaimed.
“You go on without me,” Knuckles told her, “I’ll catch up, but I have to make a quick pit stop before I do. Give the others my regards until I get there!”
“Right then! Thanks for the help, Knuckles!” Fiona exclaimed as she rushed inside and got her dad’s fastest biplane and shot off into the sky. It wasn’t hard at all to find the Egg Carrier—it was enormous and red, after all. It was right over the Red Mountains and out of the corner of her eye she saw her own fiancée skating right underneath the massive mechanical monstrosity. She squealed with joy and flew it right next to her beloved, “Hey! Shadow!” she called out, waving with one hand, steering with the other. She flew the biplane next to his run path and exclaimed, “Let’s go teach that Eggman a lesson!”
“All right!” Shadow exclaimed as he leaped up on the wings of the biplane and they both went as high as they could and quickly landed on the front of the Egg Carrier. “Let’s get ready to do this!”
“You sure are persistent for rodents!” Eggman’s voice echoed out over the PA system, “I guess I’ll have to take care of that! Get ready for your end, Shadow! Fiona!”
“Give us your best shot, Eggman!” Shadow declared, as he and his fiancée began running down the deck of the Egg Carrier. Just as they had a door in their sights, a platform rose in front of them, with Ishntknew standing on it and he already had his weapons ready. “So, ready for round two, Ishnt?” Shadow declared.
“No!” Fiona declared, “Leave him to me!”
“You crazy?!” Shadow gasped.
“I’m serious!” Fiona growled, “If Eggman attacks, you’ll need to keep your strength up!”
“You’re going to challenge me?” Ishnt snickered, “Fine then, but it’s your funeral, tubby!” Ishnt then hopped down from the platform and got ready for Fiona, who extended a thick fire sword from her rune on her arm and likewise got poised for battle.
“Don’t hang around here!” Fiona ordered to Shadow, “Go on inside and find Eggman! You said he still has Kindar, right? Go save her and make sure Eggman doesn’t get any more emeralds!”
Shadow reluctantly nodded and cautiously skated around Fiona and Ishnt, both of whom let Shadow go by. “You know you’re going to regret letting him go, right?” Ishnt grinned, “You really think a bloated beanbag like you can stop me?” he taunted, lifting his sword up and pointing its tip towards her.
“Well you big-headed windbag,” Fiona returned, “We’ll have to see if you can handle me!”
Ishnt smirked, “This’ll only take a moment,” He then rushed forward as a blur and struck towards Fiona’s large torso but she met his sword with her own and turned him to the side and kicked him in the stomach, throwing him down the deck from his own speed plus her power. Ishnt grunted as he got up and recomposed himself and aimed his gun at her and began firing wildly. Fiona held the rune above her head and a wall of fire engulfed her, blocking the blasts cold and then dropped the wall just as quickly and was right back at attacking the tall robot again with her sword. “You’re just full of surprises, aren’t you, fat hedgehog?” Ishnt grinned as he parried and countered with his own sword, “Well~ you won’t need to worry about your width for much longer! I’m about to cut you down to size!”
Fiona easily saw Ishnt’s horizontal swing coming for her, so she placed her blade vertically and stopped it and then slashed back at him, attempting to remove his arm but only took off a bit of Ishnt’s blue jacket, “I prefer the term ‘big beautiful hedgehog’, actually!” Fiona quipped. Ishnt then hopped back and then back forward again, bringing his sword over his head and down towards the girl, but she curled into a ball like the hedgehog she was and rolled around behind him, unfurled and then punched Ishnt hard in the shoulder, throwing him to the deck.
Ishnt got up and got into a defensive stance before saying, “I underestimated your power. Fine, but that power is powerless in our presence!”
“’Our’?” Fiona wondered, “There’s only one of you!” Ishnt then rushed forward and tried to slash down at her, but Fiona parried it and turned his blade down into the deck, rendering him unable to pull away from Fiona bashing in his side. After numerous hits to his side, causing a rather large dent in it, Ishnt finally removed his sword from the deck and struck Fiona across the face with the flat. Fiona spun on her toes from the hit and Ishnt reeled back and kicked Fiona hard atop her head, dropping her flat to the deck before Ishnt grabbed her ankles and hurled her down the deck towards the door. She crashed down violently as a small trail of blood went down from her lip and she opened her eyes in time to see the tall, humanoid robot in the air about to stab right down for her heart so she held up her rune-ed hand and launched a huge wave of fire from it, sending Ishnt out of the air and crashing to the deck, half burnt and his new coat ruined.
Ishnt quickly patted out the fire, but was thoroughly angered from having his coat turned to dust, so he rushed at Fiona without another word and tried to stab at her repeatedly and in spite of her gargantuan size (granted her species is naturally short anyway) she still managed to dodge and parry the more fatal strike but ended up with numerous cuts down her arms and shoulders. Finally it was to much and Fiona angrily head butted Ishnt right in his stomach, dropping him flat on his back, gasping as he tried to reorient himself. Fiona used the moment she had bought to back away from him and tried to catch her own breath but Ishnt was back on his feet in no time and back after her again. Ishnt ran for one final sweep towards her head, but Fiona went under his blade and threw her entire strength and weight behind her fist and drove it into Ishnt’s chest, throwing both of them in opposite directions down the deck.
Both fell flat, too exhausted and beaten to rise anymore, just in time for the Egg Carrier to beam up Chaos Four, and Dr. Eggman came up to the deck. From behind him, a hole was knocked in the deck from Shadow the Hedgehog and the sudden arrival of Knuckles the Echidna right behind the round doctor.
“Eggman!” Shadow shouted at the round scientist.
“I don’t have time for this!” Eggman yelled into the air as he rushed his hovercraft into Fiona, knocking her flat and causing her to drop her purple emerald and then Ishnt reached into his bag and took out the yellow emerald and they both were fed to the water monster. “Agh! Ishnt! You had an emerald this whole time?! Why didn’t you give it to me sooner?!” Eggman shouted in frustration.
Ishnt shrugged, “I was keeping it as a just-in-case measure, Doc. I was gonna fork it over as soon as we had the other six, but desperate times call for desperate measures!”
Knuckles grunted, “That means your friend, Kindar, has the last one!”
Shadow nodded, “Yeah! But we have bigger issues on our hands!” Shadow then skated over to his tired-out fiancée and helped her to her feet.
“I’ll save Kindar,” Fiona tiredly whispered, “That’ll be easy—you guys need to fight Chaos!” Just as she said that, Chaos had just finished swallowing the two newest additional emeralds and shifted into a massive scorpion-like monster with a massive guillotine-tail and large blade-like claws. “I’m sorry I can’t help more,” Fiona whimpered.
“Get going! Save Kindar and get outta here!” Shadow grunted, pushing her in the general direction of the door as Knuckles and he went after Chaos Six.
In a flash, Fiona made her way down the stairs down into the Egg Carrier, muttering about what a long, hard day it had been and she was accosted by Eggman’s three mechanical creations that had only just begun to repair themselves and fled to another room. Fiona rolled her eyes and explored around until she found the jail cell, “Kindar!” she exclaimed tiredly.
“Fiona!” Kindar shouted back, “You look hurt, are you all right?”
“I’m fine!” Fiona grinned, “Just a little worn out. Let’s do Shadow and the others a favor and shake this place up a bit!”
“Right! I saw where the engine room was before Ishntknew brought me here!” Kindar grinned as Fiona pushed the button to open the cell. The two girls ran for the engine room and found Scratch, Grounder and Coconuts having just finished their repairs standing right in front of the Egg Carrier’s main generator.
Upon seeing them Fiona exclaimed, “Dingbots!”
“Hey!” Scratch shouted back, “No one calls us dingbots except Dr. Robotnik!”
“That’s right!” the nasal robot, Grounder, agreed, “And only when he’s very, very upset!”
“Let’s take these girls apart! I mean, everyone knows that girls can’t fight, right?” Coconuts grinned as he tried to mimic a karate pose he once saw on a movie.
“Can’t fight, huh?” Kindar growled, taking out her laser sword and hiding her birdie friend away in her hair.
“We’ll show you who can’t fight!” Fiona scowled as her fire sword extended from its rune, “Let’s get ‘em!” In moments, Scratch, Grounder and Coconuts all returned to the scrap heap and the girls played with every button, lever and switch they could find on the engine when they suddenly did something they probably shouldn’t have. Steam began shooting out of the metal which quickly became red from the heat, pipes began to burst wildly, alarms sounded, gauges went off the chart and one small component even exploded, freeing a large chunk of the Master Emerald which landed in Kindar’s arms. “That’s great but, Uhh…” Fiona paused, “Let’s go!” They then turned tail and returned up to the deck where Shadow and Knuckles stood victoriously over Chaos Six.
“What did you two do?!” Shadow gasped as they returned to the deck, and Kindar forked over the chunk of the Master Emerald to Knuckles, who promptly thanked her.
Fiona grinned innocently, “Well, we got into a little fight down there with Scratch, Grounder and Coconuts—and well, it was near the ship’s generator and…” she trailed off. Shadow and Knuckles stared at them, deadpan.
“No!” Eggman cried out, “It keeps getting worse! The power supply’s going haywire! I’m getting out of here!!!” Eggman turned his hovercraft around and attempted to fly away.
“You’re not going anywhere, Doc!” Shadow yelled out and began viciously skating at him.
“Shadow! Where are you going?!” Kindar shouted out. Just then, the shaking on the ship became all the more intense, so Kindar and Fiona made a beeline for the biplane and Knuckles, with the final shard of the emerald, leaped off the side and used his dreadlocks as wings and gracefully glided away from the falling Egg Carrier. Shadow, on the other hand, was forced to make a large leap after Eggman but missed by only a few inches and fell right for the Mystic Ruins below him.
“Shadow!!!” Fiona howled out after her falling fiancée, “Shadow! Oh…” she trailed off in fret.
“What do we do now, do we go after him?” Kindar asked as she took control of the plane.
“I guess we have no choice!” Fiona worried, “We have to get Shadow and stop that water monster from getting the last Chaos Emerald! If it does, we’ll have a lot more to worry about than gravity… it’d become Perfect Chaos!”
