For once-the world was at peace. The city of Starmen.netville bustled with
its usual activities; Kindarspirit went on yet another shopping trip; Fiona
the Hedgehog had finally managed to convince her stubborn fiancée to
go on a picnic with her. The world was in a good place then. Shadow had taken
Fiona outside the city to a lush, green hill with the cityscape as one backdrop,
and a thick, beautiful forest on the other side. Shadow was flirtatiously popping
grapes into his wife-to-be's mouth with a half-hidden smile-Shadow did not want
Fiona to lose weight, and he liked her bigger, though he'd never say it out
loud.
"Wow!" Fiona giggled between having fruit stuffed into her mouth,
"You sure are lovey today, Shadow. Did you do something bad and you're
trying to cover for it or something?"
"No!" Shadow snickered, "Of course not! I'm just happy to finally
be able to spend some time with you. I have two chaos emeralds, and several
of the Shadow Series are gone-I deserve a vacation with you!"
"Well, since you brought it up," Fiona had to pause as Shadow continued
to feed her, "Mmm~ Well, I figured you and I could go to the Bahamas! My
daddy is away on business for a few weeks, so he docked his personal yacht at
the port! Wanna go?"
Shadow's ears drooped, "Uhh
no, not especially, honey,"
"What?" Fiona gasped, "Why not?"
"I
I don't like water
especially the sea," Shadow admitted,
rubbing his head, "I'd rather stay here on the land, where I can run and
stuff,"
"C'mon!" Fiona stuck out her pouting lip (knowing Shadow melted when
she did this), "I wanna go on my daddy's yacht! C'mon! You know I'm rich
and it won't cost anything!"
"You also know I hate high-profile travel," Shadow lied, as he loved
the attention, "And money wasn't a concern considering your old man and
I hit it off pretty well! I just don't like deep water,"
"But you won't be IN water, you'll be ON it!" Fiona exclaimed, "Please,
Shadow, pretty please?" she then laid on her back and rested her head on
Shadow's thin, strong legs, "Please?" she gazed up dreamily into his
eyes, "I'll even wear a two-piece bathing suit like you keep asking me
too!"
Shadow's face flushed with bright color by the notion of such a sight but he
was adamant, "No! I hate water! And no amount of saying 'please-please-please'
will ever get me to get on a boat!"
Fiona got upright and sat on Shadow's lap (more or less as a precaution to stop
him from running away), "Shadow! C'mon! I wanna go on a cruise! We won't
have to do anything! All we'll do is eat, sleep, and party! We could invite
some friends along!"
"I thought you went on your dad's cruise ship before?" Shadow asked,
trying to change the subject.
"I did, but I was a real little hedgie," Fiona told Shadow. Shadow
had serious doubts about the love of his life EVER being 'little' but he let
her continue, "I want to go on a romantic cruise with you! You've never
even BEEN on a ship before!"
"There IS a reason for that," Shadow sighed, "I don't like water!"
"Shadow!" Fiona whined, "C'mon!" she placed her hands on
his shoulders and whined like a little spoiled rich girl (which she was), "Please?!"
Shadow caved in and finally sighed, "Fine, Fiona, I'll do it, okay?"
Fiona then firmly embraced him, and nearly crushed him in her powerful, yet
loving, arms.
"Let's go right now!" Fiona exclaimed.
"What?!" Shadow gasped in terror, "Right now?! But I haven't
packed ANYTHING!!!"
"Who cares?" Fiona giggled, "You don't wear clothes! C'mon!"
She got up and grabbed Shadow's hand and was tugging the less-than-enthusiastic
husband-to-be behind her.
"You sure run fast when you're excited," Shadow commented, not even
bothering to run as his air skates pushed him along with her.
"You are kidding? I've wanted to do this with you since we first met! The
ship is ours until three weeks from today! I wanna see ALL the islands in the
Caribbean!" Fiona giggled ecstatically.
"Aren't there pirates there?" Shadow asked, mockingly.
"Ooo! You think? Maybe we'll get to meet Johnny Depp!" Fiona giggled
and Shadow pulled his hand away from her.
"Well! If he's the one you're after
" Shadow glared, half playfully.
Fiona firmly pulled Shadow into a warm, loving kiss as she whispered, "I
love you, honey,"
"I love you too," Shadow sighed, "Why is it that I can't stay
mad at you?" Fiona giggled and began tugging Shadow along again. Soon the
two were at the port and quickly boarded the ship, "Okay, okay," Shadow
sighed, "What do we do first?"
"Anything!" Fiona giggled, "Oh! It's noon! C'mon! Let's eat!"
"Typical for you
" Shadow sighed, trailing just behind his chubby
honey.
"What?" Fiona asked, unsure of if she just heard something.
"Nothing
" Shadow trailed off with an apparent smile. The two
wandered around the multiple decks and hallways as they eventually found the
dining room.
"You know what I think my dad would want us to do?" Fiona asked. Shadow
shrugged, so she went on, "Let's throw a huge party all cruise long! We
could invite all our friends and tell them to bring friends too! Wanna?!"
Shadow smiled, "Sounds like a blast! I like it!" Fiona sent some of
her butlers out into the city to invite all the people on a particular list
and to tell them to invite their friends and their friends and
Well needless
to say, in mere hours the entire ship was packed to capacity by eager sea-goers.
Even Shadow finally managed to relax on deck in a chair he had found. After
the maximum number of people could fit onto the massive yacht, it took off into
the sea, and began heading south towards the Summers. The people there were
having a grand time, and it was all thanks to Fiona's generosity.
Shadow, however, found it much more relaxing to find an empty part in the back
of the cruise ship and relax under the new full moon as night set upon them-and
let Fiona handle the hand-shaking and exchanging 'hello's. The sea water wafted
into his nostrils and actually helped him calm down from his hydrophobia and
he finally managed to doze off. Meanwhile, the entire ship was alive and active
as there were casinos on board, several dance clubs, restaurants and other such
things-Fiona's father, too, loved company and parties.
Fiona, late in the night, had finally managed to break free from the crowds
and headed towards the back towards her sleeping honey and saw him sprawled
across one of the deck chairs. She decided to go sneak up on him and heard him
singing in his sleep! "We all dance in fire~ trapped in this machine~ don't
know how long we've wasted
as the
" He mumbled. Fiona couldn't
help but giggle but something suddenly knocked her forward and she let out a
yelp and in a flash Shadow was there, holding her much larger frame in his grip,
"Fiona! Are you okay? What's wrong? What happened?"
"Shadow!" she gasped, standing up, "Something hit me!"
Shadow looked around, "There's no one here but us
were you trying
to scare me?"
"No," Fiona said, clinging to Shadow, "Something really did hit
me! I don't know-maybe it ran away?"
"Maybe," Shadow sighed, "But don't sweat it too much, Fiona,
I'll protect ya!" She still refused to let go of her husband-to-be so Shadow
lovingly cuddled her. "This is actually kind of relaxing, honey,"
Shadow finally admitted, "You were right, I guess,"
Fiona looked up at the full moon and clear sky and cuddled Shadow again, "It's
also very romantic-just us and the stars and the sea, huh?" They leaned
in slowly, both their lips puckered but they suddenly drew back when something
knocked over a metal bucket. "What was that?!" Fiona gasped. Shadow
finally released Fiona and went to see, but there was nothing but the bucket
and his chair. "What's there, Shadow?" Fiona asked.
"Nothing," Shadow told her, "Must have been the wind," But
just as he managed to say that, the entire boat roughly shook and came to a
dead halt. Both hedgehogs tumbled over on top of each other but quickly rose
to their feet, "Whoa! What just happened?" They rushed back towards
the center of the boat, and they saw a massive submarine had docked next to
the boat and stopped its movement. Shadow raised an eyebrow and examined it
but realized exactly what it was when a familiar, white emblem caught his eye,
"It's Eggman!"
As he exclaimed that, Eggman himself walked up onto a long board that had connected
to the railing of Fiona's yacht and slowly walked forward, "Hey! How rude
not to invite me to the party! Where was my invitation? You didn't lose it,
now, did you?" he mockingly exclaimed.
"You weren't wanted!" Shadow shouted as he shoved his way to the front
of the crowd and jumped up onto Eggman's metallic plank. Shadow's eyes then
trailed down and saw the deep, blue, still sea water beneath them and his pupils
shrank down to the size of raisins and he began making an awkward half-swallowing,
half-chattering noise that was similar to "Ghe-eeh-kee-kee-kih!"
"What's the matter Shadow?" Eggman grinned maliciously and snickered,
"Got yourself in a little deep this time? That's a real cute noise you're
making, just so you know,"
"Oh no," Fiona moaned, "He froze up!" Fiona then jumped
onto the board (shaking the whole thing) and wrapped her arms cautiously around
Shadow and set him back down on the deck, but he still shook hysterically and
his facial expression remained the same. She then climbed back up to square
off against Eggman, "It's just you and me this time, Dr Eggman!"
"Hmm
" Eggman raised his eyebrows, "Well, first time for
everything I suppose," he sighed, as if disappointed, "Very well
VERY well then
" He then took out a gun and aimed it at Fiona, "Let's
see how fast you are then, shall we?" Fiona gasped and Eggman tried to
fire the weapon, but suddenly, Fiona's bracelet reacted and sent a wall of fire
around her and soaked the shot! "Hey! What's this? That fire rune seemed
to be more than just a weapon then?" Eggman growled low, "Irritating!"
Fiona breathed a sigh of relief, "That was too close," She then focused
her thoughts and the fire rune brought forth a shimmering sword of fire and
she slashed the gun from Eggman's hand, "Hah! I win!"
"Not so fast, fatty!" Eggman exclaimed, seeming to forget his own
weighty issues, "I have a new weapon I think you might like to see! Come
now! The Egg-Octobot!" Then, a massive purple octopus rose up and wrapped
its arms around the ship and shook it violently, and Fiona leaped to crash back
onto the boat. "Now witness this incredible aquatic vessel's true power-built
by the hands of a genius, no less!"
"Yeah, whatever" Fiona grumbled, finally standing even though the
ship was shaking violently. "Shadow! Wake up!" Fiona shouted, shaking
her still paralyzed fiancée, "Please! I need you! I'm
I'm
scared!" she admitted, shaking Shadow back to his senses.
"Eh? What happened? Man-I must've snapped or something," Shadow then
got up and looked at the massive tentacles holding the ship in place, "I
KNEW this was a bad idea!" Shadow then jumped into the air and was about
to kick one of the tentacles when another one grabbed him and held him in the
air, "Aaaagh! Help!"
Suddenly, a blur flew from the top of one of the yacht's smokestacks and there
came flying down a strange brown mouse girl in a pink kimono with a Japanese
kitana blade in hand and she sliced one of the tentacles in half! "Whoa!"
Fiona gasped, "Who are you?"
The girl landed next to Fiona and stood before her, "I am Ruby the Mouse.
I am Shadow's older sister and I'm here to help,"
"Thank you!" Fiona said, "Let's save Shadow!" Fiona then
grabbed one of the tentacles and began bending the steel with her bare hands
while Ruby continued her slice-and-dice path of metallic destruction with her
unstoppable blade.
"Oh! No you don't!" Eggman exclaimed as the tentacle holding Shadow
took a plunge under the water, "NOW try and save him!"
Fiona looked up and gasped, but then climbed back onto Eggman's metal plank
and charged at him, screaming like a bat out of Hades and punched him in the
stomach, "YOU TELL THAT THING TO LET SHADOW GO!" she screamed. Eggman
made a quick retreat back to his sub but this did not stop the equally slow
Fiona from bashing the side of the sub in. She happened to notice the plank
withdrawing itself so she swiftly rushed back to the boat and jumped the small
gap back to her yacht, frustrated. She then witnessed as Ruby removed the last
tentacle on the deck and dive into the water. "Ruby! Be careful!"
Fiona shouted.
Then, the chubby hostess twirled around to face the deck and shouted, "Everyone!
Get on the life boats! Get outta here!" but it was useless to bother yelling
this-everyone had taken the initiative and had taken every last boat-leaving
just her, Ruby and Shadow behind, "I'm glad to know I can always count
you people," Fiona sarcastically muttered.
Suddenly, Ruby leapt from the sea water, with Shadow unconscious (albeit, alive)
and landed next to the chubby hedgehog, "He's okay-just a bit worn out
from the beating
but we gotta get out of here, that Egg Octobot has a
bomb on it!"
"What?!" Fiona screamed suddenly-but far too late as the blast ignited
the night sky-and sank the yacht. Suddenly, Fiona's eyes bolted open and she
was staring at a strange, wooden roof, "Where am I?" she whispered
to herself. She softly sat up and found herself in a bed that was actually too
big for her-something she could never find before-and in a very modest hut on
a beach with the sunset as the backdrop. She blinked a few times and walked
out of the hut and looked around for whoever it was that brought her there.
Suddenly, she caught sight of a massive, fat, furry, purple cat.
"Hello!" he cheerily replied in a rather slow, soft tone, "You
okay?"
"Yeah," Fiona replied, "Were you the one who saved me? How can
I repay you?"
"Hum
I don't need anything in return
" the large cat replied,
"I have everything I need on this island. Me and my buddy and fishing!"
"Oh
" Fiona trailed off for a moment before going on, "Well,
did you see a thin, athletic black hedgehog, or a petit brown rat?"
"Nope," the cat replied, "But I did see some people headed towards
the volcano with something that washed up
it might've been them
"
"A volcano? Is it active?" Fiona gasped.
"Yep," the large feline told her, "They give sacrifices at weird
rituals and stuff. I heard it's because they believe in some weird pagan spirits
and stuff
" he told her, still in his slow tone.
"I'd better go check it out
" Fiona sighed, "Thank you Mister
erm
what is your name?"
"I'm Big
" the cat told her.
"Well, so am I-just in a different way," Fiona shrugged, "But
what's your name?"
"Big," the cat told her again, "And this is Froggy," he
said as a long, slender amphibian jumped onto his head, "He is a frog with
a tail! It's really cool!"
"Oh! Your NAME is Big! Okay! I get it now," Fiona laughed, "I'm
going to go to that volcano, do you know the way?" she asked.
"Yeah-we'll take you right to it! Follow me!" Big told her, taking
up a long, sturdy fishing pole and began happily waddling along, shaking the
ground as he stepped. It was then that Fiona started wondering if her own footsteps
did the same when Shadow was around-but Shadow never mentioned anything like
it before, so she dismissed it as a croc notion. The trail up the mountain was
tedious and winding but before too long, they found themselves in a deep, hot
cave.
"Wow, it's hot," Big declared the obvious.
"No kidding," Fiona sighed, breathing hard as it was, "You can
go back if you want,"
After a cheerful ribbit from Froggy, Big said, "We'll go too-we can help
see if your boyfriend is in there!"
"He's-not my boyfriend, he's my fiancée," Fiona told them,
"But either way, I love him, and if he is in here, you two better be ready
to help me fight!"
"Okie-dokie," Big replied, and the three moved on into a large, circular
room. They then saw a large group of strange men around none other than Shadow
and Ruby-and a strange lizard man there with them.
"Shadow!" Fiona gasped and crouched down behind a corner, "How
are we supposed to get them back now?"
"Uhh
" Big sighed, "I don't know..."
"What are they doing, anyway?" Fiona whispered to herself as she examined
the strange ritual. The strange men were dancing around and chanting in some
strange language that the chubby hedgehog girl had never heard before but then
one of them began to shout-in English.
"Now with this, my brothers, we can calm the volcano's anger! We must sacrifice
these three lives as so that we may live on!" the man declared.
This alone set Fiona off, "Oh, no you don't!" she screeched as she
rushed onto the scene, her fists flying through the air violently. The men were
taken off guard as the ground themselves beaten and knocked to the ground by
a 4' brown blur with an attitude, and then she turned her attention to the unconscious
trio. "Shadow! Wake up! Quickly!" Fiona exclaimed, "Wake up!"
Shadow wearily opened his eyes and blinked, "Ugh-who turned up the heat?"
Fiona untied the bound hedgehog and mouse but gave an untrusting look towards
the lizard, "Who's that?"
"Dunno," Shadow said as he shook Ruby awake, "I have never seen
him around before,"
"That's Sly the Lizard," Ruby told them as she massaged her forehead,
"I guess he's been living on this remote island for quite some time now,"
But as she said that, many of the hooded men rushed them in frenzy.
"Ai! Hold up, mates!" a sudden voice resounded. When they looked,
it was none other than Sly. Who apparently had an Australian accent (?). But
he went on, "'ey! Ya blokes! Y'bettah leave m'bro 'n' sissie alone if ya
know what's good fer ya!"
"Bro and sissie?" Shadow blinked in surprise, "Better than running
into Vitra again, I suppose
"
Sly then snapped his restraints and lunged into the battle against the strange,
much shorter men and easily knocked them around. However, the volcano began
to violently shake, "Ey! What's goin' on here? Rubah! Didja do somethin'
wrong here or somethin'?!"
"You blame this on me?!" Ruby gasped, insulted by the thought, "Feels
like this whole place is going to go up in smoke any second now!" However,
rather than an explosion; a massive creature rose up from the magma below them.
It was so big its head almost reached the circular rim of the mountain's lip
and it had the head of an ape, the body of a lizard and the claws of something
like a praying mantis. "It's a monster!" Ruby gasped in shock.
"Whadda freak! 'ey! Yer Shadow, aye?" Sly turned back to his shorter
'brother'.
"Yeah, I am!" Shadow gasped too, "What should we do about this
thing?!" Just before anyone else could suggest anything, the group of cloaked
men made a swift get-a-way out of the mountainside. Shadow and his friends were
about to follow suit when something caught his eye. Inside the chest of the
lava-beast sat the shimmering red chaos emerald, shining in the dim light, "There!
A chaos emerald! We got to get it out of that thing!"
"Wonderful idea, Shadow," Sly replied, "How do yer suggest we
do that?"
"Uhh, well," Shadow sighed, "I was kind of hoping you'd have
a plan for that part,"
"Wonderful," Fiona sighed. She looked over her shoulder and Big the
Cat had a massive boulder in his paws, "Akk! What do you intend to do with
that thing, Big?!"
"Duhh
" Big sighed, then gave a slight shrug before hurling it
into the beast's left claw. It shattered with a disgusting crack.
"Hey! Look!" Shadow exclaimed, "He broke it! But now what?"
"Now, I take ovah!" Sly announced with a grin, "If you can getcher
hands on dat' emeral', we'll be set!" the lizard then smiled and ran for
the end of the stone platform.
"Sly! What are you doing?" Ruby called out, "Don't be reckless!"
"Sly!" Fiona and Shadow helplessly called out as the lizard lunged
for the molten-rock body of the monster. Sly's body began to immediately cook
before he even reached the beast, but he frantically scurried up the huge beast
and locked his blackened jaws around the red jewel and hurled it back over his
head. Shadow raised a hand and caught the precious gem but then called out,
"Sly! Sly! Are you okay?! Speak to us!"
The roasted lizard helplessly reeled backwards and plummeted into the magma
below them. All three remainders starred on in shock of the self-sacrificial
move that the lizard-man had done before realizing the monster was still alive.
"Sly
" Ruby softly whispered before breaking out into tears.
Shadow tightly gripped the jewel in his hands as his tears instantly turned
to a red-hot steam as his radiant, fire-like crimson eyes gazed towards the
monster. He raised the jewel and let out a horrible screech and a barrage of
yellow energy arrows bolted from the emerald in his mitt and slammed deep into
the monster's molten hide. "CHAOS SPEAR!" Shadow continued to yell
over and over until the entirety of the beast was reduced to nothing more than
the molten rock below them.
It then was several hours later into the night as they all sat around Big's
bed and Ruby recounted her stories about Sly, "He was one of the younger
of the Shadow Series. He always tried hard, but he was always kind of a klutz
too. He was a good person and I'm sure he's proud to have helped his brother
out, Shadow," Ruby affirmed him. Shadow merely nodded as he wiped his tears
away and softly tucked his arm around his fiancée and cried with her.
Fiona softly nuzzled her beloved and whispered, "The sun will rise again
tomorrow, Shadow. And we'll face it, together," she softly kissed him as
they all went to bed that night.
Meanwhile, miles and miles away, Eggman sat chuckling over a worktable and laughed
maniacally, "It's finished! The perfect weapon for my plans! Perfect! The
new model for my dreams! Arise, Ishnt!"
To Be Continued
This is an interview with Shadow the Hedgehog
2099. The interviewer has wished to remain anonymous so you shall know him as
IV. The questions were not pre-arranged and Shadow had no prior knowledge of
the questions during this interview. Please enjoy.
IV: Let's get started right off the bat with an easy one: what inspired you to do the fanfics?
Shadow: There was nothing better on TV? *laughs*. No, seriously. The whole thing was originally a three-part mini-saga for www.starmen.net but was rejected for having too little to do with the website and the EarthBound cast. So, a guy who was also doing theories (and also had a passion for Sonic too) had just made a website! The original Eggman Empire, if you can remember back that far?
IV: I can't.
Shadow: Fine. Well, Eggman liked them, so he posted them on his site.
IV: Okay then. Moving on: what inspired your cast? It's fairly diverse
Shadow: Other than my own inclusion, Kindar was a www.starmen.net staffer for the EB2 section for a brief time, and one of whom I became friends with early on. We lost contact, though, but I was encouraged to keep her in the story. Forte was the product of a MegaMan-spin-off and was loosely based on a good friend of mine. For those of you who are not very good with your imaginations-he looks like Bass from the MM series.
IV: And Fiona?
Shadow: I wanted a girlfriend (later fiancée) for Shadow who was very different from him. So, what was the opposite of thin, athletic and punk-style? A calm and lovey big girl.
IV: A fat girl?
Shadow: Yep.
IV: Why a fat girl?
Shadow: Why not?
IV: Stop dodging the question, dude.
Shadow: Sorry. Well, I can't deny my own personal preferences played into it. I imagined myself as Shadow and imagined myself a perfect-fit furry girl.
IV: And she was 500 lbs?
Shadow: More in the neighborhood of 550, but who's counting?
IV: So, you like fat girls?
Shadow: Yes, very fat. Now, could we get back on track?
IV: Sorry. In the first story, there are innumerable typos, but the later stories tend to have less. Why?
Shadow: When I first wrote the story, I was worried that starmen.net and the Eggman Empire would not have the right program to run the file properly. Sadly, I had to use Notepad for the original. More frustratingly, I used a tough lil' bugger of a program for the direct sequel. Because of my new computer, I can even read my own story without checking the EE!
IV: and?
Shadow: I later used Microsoft Word. It's a standard program most people have and it came with spell/grammar check!
IV: Any drawbacks to it?
Shadow: It proves a major pain to write a character's dialogue that has a heavy accent!
IV: I could imagine. I've noticed some serious tie-ins into the original Sonic universe. Does Sonic exist in this world?
Shadow: No. No Sonic, Tails, Amy or Gamma. The first three were taken out to avoid confusion with the two unrelated (albeit, similar) universes and I just didn't like Gamma.
IV: What ever happened to the robots Shadow freed from the swamp?
Shadow: I'd love to tell you, but they appear far later-if I write that long, even past the Shadow Saga.
IV: Why do you keep killing the members of the Shadow Series?
Shadow: I can't tell you that either, but it is an important play into the later pieces of the Shadow Saga.
IV: Would you ever consider yourself a heterosexual, but in denial of it?
Shadow: Wait what?
IV: Never mind. Where do you draw most of your inspiration?
Shadow: Video games, largely. Those of you who've played MegaMan Battle Network will see immediate similarities to the Sword Battle Chip and Shadow's lifesword.
IV: Fair enough. How many fans do you have?
Shadow: As far as I know, about four in total. A nice girl nicknamed 'Flam' who appeared in my story once, Ishnt, Eggman, and a strange fan girl who suddenly appeared out of no where and I think wanted to kill me
IV: Strange Have you ever received a death threat?
Shadow: Not recently
IV: Do you like beets?
Shadow: Are you even trying?
IV: Are you going to make a new Eggman-based fanfic soon?
Shadow: When I made "Eggman Wigs Out" the original premise was to try and show the doc in a less-evil and less-intelligent form. Mostly humor. Everyone knows that afros are pure gold for humor. That was also the reason for the surprise ending of "Eggman's True Love"
IV: So, are you or are you not?
Shadow: I probably will soon-when I get inspiration.
IV: I noted that in one fic you used words from a Christian song. Care to explain?
Shadow: I am a Christian. And a Baptist, no less. I liked the song, and it fit the scene well. So there.
IV: Noted. Are Fiona and Shadow ever going to get hitched?
Shadow: Maybe. But not soon. Unlike Archie comics, I know better than to ruin a super-hero with marriage. Shadow may get married with her soon, but not until after the Shadow Saga.
IV: Will they have kids?
Shadow: No. Children ruin fanfictions. It's a very typical cliché, especially among fan girls/fan boys. Likewise, I will not be killing off Shadow, introducing a new character who is in every way better than Shadow and having Fiona magically forget her fiancée.
IV: You have a thing against fan girls and fan boys. Why?
Shadow: Frankly, I've never been fond of them. But they're everywhere all the time and they insist on using the Japanese names of the cast of MegaMan and Seiken Densetsu 3. So I refuse to forgive their blasphemy.
IV: New topic: how often do you write?
Shadow: As often as possible. I recently wrote a small novel (of roughly 155 pages) that I have an editor reviewing even as we speak. With that and a great deal of focus on it for copyright and publication, I gave little attention to my fanfics. I try to work with them often, but sometimes I turn my computer on, look at them, and then turn it back off.
IV: I'm sure people have noticed that the Shadow Saga is quite a bit longer than your original works-why?
Shadow: The very first was nine pages, what do you want? I don't like doing long and drawn out stories because often I make them worse.
IV: but your novel is 155 pages?
Shadow: And it took me over a year and a half to finish?
IV: Granted. Next question: you already hinted at a Sonic Adventure and a Sonic Adventure 2 tie-in. Will it happen?
Shadow: To properly create the new universe, I had to take some familiar elements in with it so that the reader would have a sense of nostalgia whilst reading. Because of this, tie-ins were inevitable. While a direct SA2 reference is impossible to avoid, there will be a SA1 re-telling.
IV: When?
Shadow: Since episode one of the Shadow Saga already hinted at it, it'll be after the Shadow Saga itself.
IV: If you could go back and completely re-vamp a story, which one would it be?
Shadow: Probably "Eggman Returns". I rushed it too much.
IV: Will you ever go back and re-vamp it?
Shadow: Probably not.
IV: Well, that's all the time I have. Thank you for your insightful answers. Just one more question?
Shadow: Shoot.
IV: You like fat girls?!
Shadow: *sighs* Yes. Now go away.
