Chapter 5: A Rebel assault.


Everyone on Earth was enjoying a peaceful day. Kids were playing, adults
were talking, dogs were running. Suddenly, monitors appeared all over the
place, showing the same message.


“People of Earth,” Eggman spoke. “It’s all over for all of you! You are
quite doomed!” The crowd started laughing hysterically. Shouts of “Again?”,
and “How long before Sonic stops him?” filled the air.
“QUIET!!!” Eggman yelled. “Sonic won’t save you now! He played videos of
Eggman defeating everyone one by one. “There. NOW are you convinced?” Gasps
rang everywhere. “Good. It sunk in. You have 24 hours, then I unleash..
PROJECT EGG. Good day,” The message then ended, leaving the people in total
confusion and fear.

Meanwhile, in a cave hidden out of Eggman’s reach.

“I can’t believe it!” SFX yelled. “He beat us all! And with my robot!”
“According to the broadcast, we have 24 hours.” Tails said.
“We need to launch an all out attack. It’s the only way!” SFX yelled.
“Right!” Sonic agreed.
“Wait a minute.” Shadow interrupted  “We need to be prepared.”
“True” Sonic growled. “What should we do to prepare?”
“This is rough. We have little time to do this. We can’t waste too much time
preparing.” SFX said, anger in his voice. “How...how could I let him get my
robot designs?”
“There’s no time, SFX.” Tails spoke. “We must plan our attack!”
“According to my energy signals, he’s on the Death Egg.”
SFX and Tails started conversing about their plans, being the two smartest
in the group.
“So what should we do?” Tails asked
“We need transportation. I can’t fly, he’ll probably detect me.” SFX replied
“The Tornado 2 is down, and my workshop will be covered by Eggman’s
soldiers, no doubt.”
“Hmm...My lab!”
“Your lab?”
“He doesn’t know where my lab is! We can arm ourselves there.”
“Good. So then...what should we plan for attack?”
“......we need to move through the fortress as fast as we can” SFX
explained. “We don’t have much time. If you encounter enemies. Show no
mercy.”
“Right.”
The four looked at each other, nodded, and separated, preparing to meet at
SFX’s lab.


Four hours later, at the Death Egg.

20 Hours remain.

Sonic Ran through the Death Egg, and entered the fortress.
“Ugh. These robots? Not fun.” He muttered. Five robots surrounded him. “That
all? SONIC WIND!” He unleashed a burst of wind, knocking down all of the
robots.
“Heh. Dumb robots” He chuckled. Hearing footsteps, he jumped on the ceiling
and grabbed a pole, to avoid more attention. The robots were walking past.
“Excellent..” Sonic thought to himself, with an evil grin on his face. “When
they come down, I’ll..buh?” A buzzing sound rang through the room, and the
robots below Sonic were promptly shocked.
“What?!” Sonic yelled in shock.
“Please. You think you can pull stealth?” Shadow muttered, walking up to
where Sonic was. “Come down, Blue boy. We don’t have time for sneaking.”
“Right.” Sonic jumped down. “Where’s SFX and Tails?”
“Tails is somewhere nearby, SFX said he had something to do.”
“What?! What could he have to do!?” Sonic threw his arms into the air in
frustration. “We have 20 freaking hours to stop Eggman!”
“He must be planning something. Let’s not worry. We have a mission of our
own to accomplish.” Upon finishing that sentence, Shadow headed towards the
next room.
“Hey! Wait up!” Sonic yelled, running after Shadow.


Main control room.
Time remaining: 19 hours, 55 minutes.

SFX slowly entered the room, with a beam saber out. “Come out, Eggman!” A
laser shot the saber out of SFX’s hands, and then Eggman flew into the area.
“Still using the armor, I see.” SFX growled.
“Of course” Eggman replied. “I know that your friends are trying to get
through the Death Egg. Why aren’t you with them?”
“I have a score to settle with you. You stole my robot, caused chaos with
it, nearly killed me and everyone else, and now threatening the world, for
the 18th MILLION time. I’m tired of your evil. I’m tired of everything you
attempt! I intend to defeat you, even if it means dying in the process. It’s
over, Eggman.”
“I stole your robot? I’m pretty sure I built it.”
“Using my plans.”
“Details..Details..”
“SHUT UP!” SFX charged at Eggman, who jumped over him, causing SFX to hit
the wall.
“Attacking wildly will lead to failure” Eggman lectured. SFX got back to his
feet.
“Rest assured, Eggman. I will win this fight!”
