by Doc Eggman
We all know Tails had two games, and Knuckles and Shadow(Unfortunately) had one apiece. But we often forget about good old Dr. Eggman's foray into stardom in two titles! Let's take a stroll down this mustachioed memory lane, and recall Robotnik's roles as the leading man in two fine games.

Released for both the Genesis and Gamegear, Dr. Robotnik's Mean Bean Machine is usually the first thing that comes to mind when you say "Robotnik game." Sonic's nowhere to be seen in this all-bad guy cast of Robotnik and his robots from the Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog cartoon show. While Robotnik himself isn't playable, he's easily the star of the show, and his visage is plastered all over the place. Though a Puyo Puyo clone, this game definitely got a Robotnik-themed touch up.
From Puyo Puyo to Mean Bean Machine

- A new soundtrack
- Characters replaced with Robotnik and company
- The addition of a password feature
- Robotnik's creepy "HAW! HAW! HAW!" laugh.
- And most interestingly out of all changes, the "hero" character from the original game was removed entirely, showing only Robotnik and his robots giving little monologues before the battle. The original game meant they could have tossed Sonic in and made "Sonic Puzzle" or something, but they made a conscious effort not to include him, but rather to make this a Robotnik title. And for that, Sega, I salute you.
Gameplay

So, how's the gameplay? It's a simple, yet very fun and addictive, puzzle game where the object is to line up matching "beans" of the same color. The more combos you get, the more bad beans get dumped on your opponent's side, leading to your victory. It gets really frantic late into the game, and Dr. Robotnik himself proves more than a worthy challenger.
Gamegear Version

The Gamegear version is, despite its lower resolution and less-colorful graphics, touted to be superior to its Genesis counterpart. The gameplay is just as smooth, and it also features an additional Puzzle Mode, for even more brain-teasing fun! Do yourself a favor and play both versions for the full experience.
Conclusion
In short, Robotnik's first starring role is astounding- The character debuted in 1991, and had his own game by 1993. It may not have been a high-speed adventure, but somehow, a puzzle game- ergo, a challenge of intellect- fits the Doctor well. It's a fun game and Eggman Empire recommends it!

This obscure little game is available only on mobile phone, but it's well worth your download- It not only stars Eggman, it stars playable Eggman! If the title didn't give it away, it- like Mean Bean Machine- is another puzzle game. It seems the Doc's being typecast for these roles, but who can complain? Eggman's the star, and that's good enough for us at the Eggman Empire.
Gameplay

In this game, Eggman functions more or less as a cursor on a giant game board. You use him to slide panels around and create images of his archenemies from the Sonic cast, specifically their Sonic Battle art. Additionally, the game features limited online support in the form of a highscore ranking. Given the Sonic Battle theme of the game, with Eggman's mech and the character art, it's almost like a consolation prize for Eggman's lack of (normally accessible) playability in that game. It's still available for download on Sega's official site, so it's worth looking at! Do it for Eggman.
Eggman's already beat Knuckles and Shadow, starring in two(Or three if you count the Genesis and Gamegear versions of Mean Bean Machine seperate games) games. This already puts him ahead of most of the Sonic cast, the majority of whom have not had their own starring role. So let's hear it for Eggman, and hope for another Eggman game in the future! Maybe an actual adventure next time!
