Over the course of the many Sonic continuities, Robotnik's had many potential love interests. Not surprising, seeing how he's a romanticist, femmenist, and self-professed gentleman. This article will be divided into three sections: Characters who Robotnik has expressed attraction to, Characters who have expressed an attraction to Robotnik, and characters with whom Robotnik has shared mutual attraction with. Along with these will be my thoughts on the potential relationships.

	Characters Robotnik has expressed attraction to:

So first, these are characters Robotnik has fallen in love, like, or some varying degree of romantic interest in... but in one-sided manner, with the other person not sharing his feelings.

Lucinda (AoStH)

From the episode "Best Hedgehog", Lucinda was Robotnik's would-be highschool sweetheart, who the mad genius stayed infatuated with for some thirty years, to the point of imprisoning his romantic rival Lucas in his fortress's dungeon. Despite the Doc's best efforts, though, she was already in love with the oddly Waldo-resembling Lucas. Even though this relationship never went anywhere, it is the first instance of Robotnik having romantic feelings for someone in any continuity, so it's quite important.

Sera (Sonic OVA)

This one's a no-brainer. Eggman's head-over-heels in love with Sera throughout the whole anime, and in fact, his entire evil plan revolves around exterminating everyone but the damsel and himself so they can repopulate the world with his own lineage. Even though Sera bluntly states that she has no interest in marrying Eggman, it seems she doesn't outright dislike him. The two pass the time playing videogames, and she even playfully threatens to "stop being his hostaaaaage~" to get a rematch. Upon seeing Metal Robotnik/Black Eggman, Sera exclaims "Yahoo! Yeah! This is great, Robotnik!" in the dub, but in the original, she offers a far more complimentary "You rock, Eggman!" I think, at least, Eggman and Sera had potential to be friends and- maybe, just maybe- something more, once she gets to know him a bit better. Ah, if only the OVA had continued...

Sally (Sonic in Sydney Musical)
From the rather bizzare musical stage show, Robotnik falls in love with- ugh- Sally Acorn. Wrong species, Doc. I'll just say I'm glad this musical is in no way canon.

	Characters who have expressed an attraction to Robotnik:

Catella (AoStH)

Catella, the intergalactic huntress, starts as an ally to Robotnik in the episode "Zoobotnik." However, she soon falls for Robotnik and wants to marry him on the spot- Robotnik's not interested because, well, this chick is a freaking monster. With her superhuman strength and her tendancy to beat people up as a sign of affection, Robotnik quite unwillingly gets dragged to the alter. Only at the last minute does Mama Robotnik arrive to save the day, as Catella refuses to be related to the old bag, and who can blame her?


Scarlette Garcia (Sonic X Comics)

During issue #26 , "The Legend of El Gran Gordo", Dr. Eggman's masquerading as the heroic wrestling sensation, El Gran Gordo. And what a hit with the ladies he is! Even though the lovely reporter isn't aware of Gordo's real identity, it's rather apparant she's awed by his manly charms. That's probably as far as this will ever go, however, especially with his recent infatuation with Ella...

	Characters who Robotnik has shared a mutual attraction with:

Omelleta (AoStH)

In the episode "Sonic the Matchmaker ", Robotnik yearns for companionship, and builds a robotic wife. The two actually seem to hit it off quite well, and despite her cliched "Bride of Frankenstine" appearance, she clearly loves him dearly. Unfortunately, Sonic being the meddling nuisance he is, splashes her with water, causing her to short out and become an insufferable nag. She wasn't seen after the episode.


Ella (Sonic X Comics)

Perhaps the most plausible so far, Ella has expressed a clear attraction to Eggman while in his El Gran Gordo form in issue #32, "Titanic Team Up! ", and Eggman himself falls absolutely in love with her in issue #34, "Fool Party." The fact that they're close to the same age and that both find each other attractive makes this relationship have so much potential to really go somewhere, and I hope it does! Stay tuned for future comics to find out.

	Other:

Robot Wife (AoStH)

In the episode "Sonic Running ", Robotnik runs for President of Mobius, and for the sake of his public image, constructs a robotic first lady. This robot seemed less sentient than Omelleta, however, and since she was just for show, it's likely neither had feelings for each other.
